Alternative health care
Alternative health and medical care have existed in Sweden since the 1920s. The first pure health food stores emerged around the 1930s. Alternative medicine, is often called complementary medicine and is a concept for the methodology that is a complement to the scientifically based medicine. How the authorities view this varies between countries.
Treatments of ailments performed in complementary medicine have not been tested scientifically according to the regulations that apply in healthcare. The concept was introduced in Sweden in the 70’s and it includes, among other things: naprapathy, natural remedies, acupuncture, cryopractic, homeopathy, osteopathy and kinesiology.
